About the VBC
The Victorian Bioinformatics Consortium (VBC) conducts research in
bioinformatics and
assists the performance of biological research by both academic and
industrial users. It plays an important role in developing Australia's skill
base in bioinformatics through training postgraduate students and
postdoctoral fellows.
Sited within existing biomedical research facilities,
the Consortium brings together scientists engaged in "wet lab" research with
computer scientists and statisticians. They share their diverse expertise
and knowledge to advance research across a range of fields.
Life Sciences Computation Centre Hub
The VBC is the
Monash University
hub of the
Life Sciences Computation Centre
(LSCC) for the
High-Throughput Genomics theme.
This LSCC hub provides collaborative bioinformatics support to
many biological projects,
and has access to the high performance-computing resources of the
Victorian Life Sciences Computation Initiative
(VLSCI).
Funding
The VBC is financially supported by subscribers from
Monash University,
the
Life Sciences Computation Centre,
the
Monash Health Translation Precinct,
NeCTAR,
and project grant salaries from the
NHMRC.
